Keep Somers Beautiful (KSB) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting litter prevention and cleanup of the town of Somers, New York.
The group's president wanted a website that would both educate the public about local and general environmental issues, as well as informing about opportunities to contribute.
The KSB president wanted the site to serve multiple functions: to be educational, and to move visitors to take action and participate.
The site also has to serve multiple audiences: the general public (individuals, families, students) and the local business community.
The home page immediately informs the visitor what to expect: a site dedicated to the cleanup of Somers, NY. The home page tells visitors how successful the group has been, demonstrating the worthiness of the group. It also provides the social proof of how many other people are involved with the group, legitimizing the group and allowing the visitor to feel comfortable with the idea of joining and/or participating in its activities.
There is a button choice where the visitor can identify themselves as either an individual or a business owner, which leads to content targeted to the appropriate segment.
Each page on the site offers an opportunity to download valuable information so the group can build its e-mail list while building trust with the visitor.
